As my first post of the rest of my life (seriously, how great is it to have finished exams?!? ), I'll talk about Dr. Who. Many thanks to Brandon who introduced me to this show and enabled me to watch it cause it is AMAZING.

Now, I think of myself as a media racist. The endless repeats and general poor acting that came with shows like The Bill has made me think that all British shows are, well, terrible. I even got to the point where I was interested in watching Torchwood, saw the BBC logo, and then turned it off.

However, after watching this show, I'm more open to trying shows of English descent. I think of Dr. Who as
the "space travel" equivalent of Supernatural, where science-fiction takes the place of fantasy. In any case, it's awesome!

P.S. I still don't know what Bad Wolf is...

P.P.S. This is aimed at Geoff. Did you know that in the opening sequence, the time vortex is blue when the TARDIS travels towards it and red when it travels away from it. Sound familiar?

Today (after my WACE Music Recital), Mummy and Me (and I) went to Ikea. This was my first trip to Ikea, ever, and my mind was satisfactorily blown.

The place is enormous, and the flat-pack storage area/dungeon is kinda terrifying. Imagine being in there alone at night time. AIYEEE!!!

Among all the faux apartments, fancy mini-trolleys and travel direction arrows, my favourite part was the food. There was so much, that was so tasty for so cheap. Among this food, there was a particular type of chocolate...

In a day where political history was made, a day where my sister and mother saw Toy Story 3 in 3D before me, a day where my school report arrived, and a day when my hideous Driver's License arrived in the mail, this is still the most exciting thing to happen.

My Aunt came over with a pile of goods for my Mum to sell on eBay, as she does occassionally. Among the pile, there was an antique ukulele from 1915 Hawaii, that apparently my Pop used to play (in between playing the drums).

He passed this ukulele down to my Aunt, who then got it valued, and, after finding out that it is worth $600, she has decided to bring it to my house for it to be sold to a stranger.

Big mistake.

I fully intend for this antiquelele to not leave this house.

Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog is an internet video series about the ongoing struggle between a superhero and a supervillain, but it's told from the supervillain's perspective. Sound familiar?

I've like this for ages. It is rather hilarious, has a good soundtrack, a good cast (basically, Neil Patrick Harris) and it has a really nice story behind it.

Basically, back in the Writer's Strike of 2007, a bunch of people decided to create this series of internet videos so that some stuff could still be written and showed to people for their entertainment. So all these people chipped in for free and made this thing happen.

And then, after it gained huge success online, it became a DVD and they paid back everyone who invested their time and effort into it originally.

Take a look at it's Wikipedia page, and then decide whether you wanna get a thumbdrive to me or not.

Basically what you do is you sign into this website and it connects you with a random tutor in your area who knows a thing or two about your subject of choice.

You may or may not remember my story of one "Quan B" who single-handedly helped me to pass a Specialist EPW last year. Well today in Specialist, we spent the majority of a double period trying to work out two particular problems, which "Rahim N" figured out in 10 minutes.

Super Mario Bros.: The Movie!!

I'm not sure if (m)any of you remember this, but I certainly do. Which is odd in itself, since this movie was released a whole 2 months after I was born.

This is the trailer for Super Mario Bros. the movie, and it features a whole bunch of dinosaurs with creepy shrunken heads. Also, the big dinosaur at 1:11 is "King Koopa", who later became Bowser.

It's pretty interesting to see the beloved game that all of us have played screwed up like this. Enjoy!

EDIT: Oops. Well apparently Bowser is played by Dennis Hopper: A human! Which is a whole lot weirder.

Sundae, Bloody Sundae

Well, as many of you know, yesterday was my 17th Birthday. To celebrate, my family and I went out to Hog's Breath for dinner, so I decided to take the opportunity to tackle a life challenge that I set for myself exactly 12 seconds before I had accepted the challenge itself.

I would attempt to single-handedly consume the giant sundae dessert on the menu. This beast contains 4 scoops of vanilla ice-cream, 4 scoops of strawberry ice-cream and a piece of Mississippi Mudcake, all topped off with mountains of whipped cream and strawberry topping.

At first, my spirits were high. Camwhoring around the sundae as if it was my bitch. A fact which, I am ashamed to say, was neither true nor a fact...

At the halfway mark, I began to feel the weight of the challenge that I had undertaken. And, symbolically, the camera angle began to rise, until...

...I difinitively placed my head in my hands, like some sort of head-in-handbitch, while the remainder of the dessert mocked me from it's high horse.
And as I stared through my fingers at the ice-cream that lay collected in the bowl of my dreams, as melted as all hope I had of eating that mystical dessert, I realised that just as its state changed from solid to liquid, my own state of mind changed from a solid desire to devour, to a smooth liquid of respect towards this: The Dessert of Men.

Iron Man 2: SCORE!!!

Hazzah!! Not all hope is lost!

Instead of "The Worst Decision Ever", the soundtrack of Iron Man 2 is also being filled by an actual score.

What's more, you can hear snippets from John Debney's score on the Iron Man 2 website. And it's pretty damn sweetish. Although, as far as I can tell, it uses way more orchestra (as opposed to electric guitars/synthesisers) than the score of the original, which sort of makes it lose its high-tech, futuristic, metallic feel.

But maybe that's just me...

MDC Foundation Day 2010

Wow.

Going into my third and last ever Foundation Day, I was super nervous about everything I needed to do throughout the day. But here's a play-by-play:

The Mass: The band didn't do that bad, considering half of us hadn't practised those hymns with the band since the opening mass.

Stalls: They were sweet! As busy and hectic as I remember from Year 10. And I still was not able to find the elusive pixie sticks that drove me mad last year.

Arabian Nights Scene: Would have been good, had I not been required to stand on stage in black pants, black shirt and a turban, say nothing and simply clap at one point. But I needed to be in character at all times (hence my ignorativity towards you people at the back, and the annoying kid in my homeroom who sat in the front row).

MDC Idol: It was so awesome! All acts were fantastic. Conrad and Joe came out of the blue (I hope you don't mind me saying this, but you were extremely underestimated) and blue everyone away (see what I did there, it's a homophone). The band(s) was/were so awesome(s)!
Even Heavy Metal Ketal said it was good!!

House Games: Meh.

Okay, to commemorate the arrival of the first teaser trailer of DreamWorks' new animate film MegaMind, I thought we'd go through the past news from it.

- Originally, it was called Mastermind, and it was about a supervillain (voiced by Robert Downey Jr.) who had to completely rethink all his purpose in life after he kills his superhero nemesis (voiced by Brad Pitt).

- Then we found out more plot details. It wouldn't be fully about how the supervillain came to terms with his nemesis' death: It would now be about him creating another superhero to battle, who ends up turning evil so that the original supervillain must turn into a superhero to save the city that he loves to jeopardise.

- Then the title was changed to Oobermind. Ugh...

- Then RDJ dropped out and was replaced by Will Ferrell. Hopes begin to fade...

- Then we got this picture:

- And thus, my opinion went from this to this: Ugh.
Here's the freaking trailer. It's going waste space in the Trailer Box for a week or so, until something better comes up.

When accepting awards for (spoiler alert) 2009's Best Animated Feature Film, Up, both the director and the composer, Michael Giacchino (my equal favourite composer) wore The Ellie Badge, from Up.

For those who haven't seen up, first of all, shame on you. Secondly, The Ellie Badge is a grape soda bottlecap badge that was given to the elderly protagonist by his late wife, Ellie.

Oh my God. I've recently gotten back into Maroon 5 in a big way. And I am now eagerly anticipating their next album, coming out in June some time.

Also, echoing someone's post a while ago about the "dream tour" of Breaking Benjamin, Skillet, Three Days Grace and their ilk, I have found a similar dream tour for myself that os out of reach for me.

Sometime in June (also) Maroon 5 will be touring with Jason Mraz (as well as Counting Crows, John Mayer and Gavin de Graw, for a bit, all of whom I rather enjoy the music of). Talk about annoying!

Legend Of The Guardians Trailer

Here be the trailer for the epic-looking new movie, Legend Of The Guardians based on some book by some guy. It actually looks really cool, and here's why:
- It is directed by Zack Snyder, the director of (amongst other things) Watchmen.
- It's made by the same people who made Happy Feet (Animal Logic).
- It features a cast of HEAPS of Australians, which is cool. And, even better, they don't put on crappy American accents.
- The trailer features a really cool song (Kings And Queens - 30 Seconds To Mars); always a good sign of a cool movie.
- Oh, AND it's about owls; possibly the most underrated animal.
